Privacy at Veilmoon

Your birthday, your chart, the people you save, and anything you journal are yours — kept close, and shared only if you choose.

Last updated July 6, 2026

The short version

Veilmoon is built so that the personal things you enter stay with you. Your birthday, your optional name, your exact birth time and place, the people you've saved for compatibility, your daily card draws and streak history, and any notes you write — all of it is stored only in your own browser, on your own device.

None of that is ever sent to us. There's no server that holds your readings, no database of visitors, no account to sign up for. We literally cannot see your birthday or your journal, because they never reach us.

That isn't a loophole or a promise we hope to keep — it's how the site is made. Below, we explain it plainly, including the few technical things any website does see.

What stays on your device

Everything personal you give Veilmoon is saved in your browser's local storage — a small space on your own device that belongs to you.

That includes your birthday, your name if you add one, your exact birth time and place if you enter them, the people you save for compatibility readings, your daily draws and streak, and any notes or journal entries you keep.

This data is never transmitted to a server, never uploaded, and never backed up by us. It stays on the device where you entered it. If you open Veilmoon on a different device or browser, you'll start fresh, because there's nothing on our end to sync from.

Your reading itself is calculated right there in your browser, using an open-source astronomy library. Your birth details are used to do the math on your device — they aren't sent anywhere to produce your chart.

What our server necessarily sees

Veilmoon is a static site: our server's job is simply to send you the pages and files that make up the website.

Like every web server on the internet, ours may keep basic technical access logs when your browser requests a page. These can include your IP address, your browser and device type (the user-agent), which pages you asked for, and the date and time. We use this kind of information only to keep the site secure and reliable — spotting abuse, fixing errors, understanding load.

This is ordinary request information that any website receives in order to work. It is not your chart, your saved people, or your journal — those never travel to us at all.

Analytics, without the tracking

We may use privacy-respecting, cookieless analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages are useful.

If we do, it counts visits without following you around the web and without building a profile of you as an individual. There's no cross-site tracking and no advertising identity attached to it — just simple, aggregate numbers that help us make the site better.

Hand-written, never AI

The words you read in a Veilmoon interpretation are written by a person. The interpretive text is one hundred percent hand-written — never generated by AI.

And just as importantly: no personal data you enter is ever sent to any AI service. Your birthday, your birth time, your saved people, and your notes are not shared with an AI, because they aren't shared with anyone. The reading is assembled on your device from writing we prepared in advance.

Advertising

Veilmoon is free, and to keep it that way we may show ads on the site. This isn't necessarily live yet, but we want to be honest about it up front.

If and when we do run ads, third-party advertising partners — for example, Google AdSense — may set their own cookies or use their own identifiers. Those are governed by the partners' own privacy policies, not ours, and we'll link out to them so you can read how they operate.

Our aim is contextual, non-personalized advertising wherever we can. Depending on where you live, you may also see a consent choice about ad cookies before any are set.

A note on invite links

When you create a compatibility invite link, the other person's birthday is encoded in the part of the URL after the # symbol — what's called the fragment.

This was a deliberate privacy choice. Browsers never send the fragment portion of a link to any server, so a birthday shared this way is read only in the recipient's own browser. It's used to make the reading, and it doesn't reach us along the way.

Accounts

Veilmoon has no accounts, no logins, and no passwords right now. You don't create anything or sign in to anything to use the site.

We may offer optional accounts someday. If that ever changes, we'll update this policy first and explain clearly what any account would store and why.

Where you live

Because your readings never leave your device, the only information Veilmoon handles at all is the basic technical data above — the request logs any web server keeps, and cookieless analytics counts if we use them. Ad partners, if and when ads run, handle their own data under their own policies.

Depending on your region, laws such as the GDPR or CCPA may give you rights over even that technical data — for instance, to ask what is held or to object to certain processing. If that applies to you and you'd like to make a request, get in touch using the contact details below and we'll help.

We don't sell your personal information, and there's no profile of you for us to sell.

Children

Veilmoon is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13 — and, as above, we don't collect your personal readings at all.

Not professional advice

Astrology and tarot on Veilmoon are offered for reflection, self-understanding, and entertainment. They are not a substitute for professional medical, legal, financial, or mental-health advice. For decisions that matter, please talk to a qualified professional.

Your control

Because your personal data lives only in your browser, you're the one holding it — and you can remove it at any time.

Veilmoon offers a one-tap “clear my data” control that erases what the site has stored on your device. You can also clear it yourself by clearing your browser's storage for this site. Either way, it's gone instantly, and since we never kept a copy of your readings, there's nothing on our end to delete.

The one thing that clearing your browser won't touch is the basic server access logs described above — those live with our host for a short time for security, not with your readings. Everything personal, though, is simple: your data stays right here, so removing it is right here too.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time — for instance, if we introduce ads, add optional accounts, or change how the site works. When we make a meaningful change, we'll revise the date at the top and, where appropriate, note what changed.

Using Veilmoon after an update means the current version applies.
